
Sutureself, based out of Regina Saskatchewan since 1999, is the brainchild of Todd Bryanton. Todd plays drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, and vocalchords. Todd has a high opinion of himself.
Awards and Recognition
Todd was nominated for the 2005 Lieutenant Governor's Minus 30 Award for youthful contribution to the arts. The Sutureself songs "Fake I" and "Don't Say That I Didn't Warn You" have been featured on the APTN/Global TV series renegadepress.com. An instrumental version of the song "Throwaway" provided the opening theme for the YTV series 2030 CE; the song "Transmissions" also appeared in an episode. The song "Killing Time" has been featured in the MOW Murder Seen, which you've never heard of and most likely will never see. Todd is an ardent capitalist and enjoys listing all the ways in which he has sold himself.
Music Composition
Todd works as a music composer and sound engineer for Talking Dog Studios. His regular music composition gigs include the CTV comedy series Corner Gas as well as the APTN/Global teen drama renegadepress.com. He has also composed music for numerous commercials and documentaries. Todd recently completed his first feature-length film score for 2Human, starring Joey Lawrence and set to appear on the Sci-Fi channel in the U.S. and the Space Network in Canada in 2006.
Video Editing
Todd does all his own video editing for the Sutureself live shows, where he projects epilepsy-inducing visuals on a 12-foot screen. In 2003 he directed and animated the music video for DSM's "Progress," which was nominated for four awards at the 2004 Nextfest Digital Video festival: Best Visual Effects, Convergence/Experimental, What's Next (Best Up and Coming Director), and 200 Proof Sask (Best of Saskatchewan). Writing
Todd has a B.A. in English from the University of Regina and is currently finishing his Masters in English. He has published two short stories: "Ruby Bloom," in the 2004 Spring issue of On Spec, and "Passion Play," in the 2006 Spring issue of Grain.
Production
In addition to producing all the Sutureself material, Todd produced the Michelle Boudreau CD "This Room" in 2005. Todd plays drums on the disc.
Other Bands
In addition to Sutureself, Todd has played drums in the past with Michelle Boudreau, DSM, and hippy funksters Zomaa. As of 2006, he is currently jamming in a postpunk project called White Knuckle Drive.
